Midweek Release – Nanoha ViVid 70

Nanoha ViVid 70preview.jpg

We’re making special efforts to get the rest of volume 14 out by the end of the week. Today you can watch the girls get a few lessons as the stage is set for training unlike they’ve ever had. For an extra challenge, see if you can keep track of all the characters this franchise has thrown at us. It’s enough to make your head spin. That aside, have fun with…

By the end of the week? That sure is a blisteringly quick release schedule. Nice.
Any reason why you are now able to set such a pace? I know you ar unlikely to be able to maintain it but I wonder if the pace of updates will be quicker than one per month.

Since this chapter introduces concepts of Jin and Li I have to make this comment on translation that I hope will not be taken badly. I think, based on the other translation (from what I can remember), that you mangled up a bit the explanation, or at least it was not as clear as it should be. This is especially present during the part where Xue is showing what can be done with Jin.
I think first time she hits the bag she is using a completely normal non magically enhanced punch and the attack is weak. The second time she adds magic and uses Li and the strength is better. But the third time she uses Jin to properly optimize the management her meager resources and the results are MUCH better since her attack is not optimal. The second step is not obvious from your translation I have to say. Then again I don’t know how it’s in the original so I might be wrong but the context supports my conclusions.
Again I wouldn’t complain as much if not for the fact that these seem like important concepts for this arc and a way to probably explain the increase in power by the protagonists after it finishes.

On the other hand a good thing about this translation, that I don’t remember noticing in the other one is the moment where Yumina clues in what is going on. The dialogue is still not the best since she says that and no that is present.

Finally some notes and these are about the actual chapter. The person traveling with Chantez is actually Sig and Victoria’s buttler. First time I saw this image I recognized him but I was stumped why Harry is traveling with him. It wasn’t untill the next chapter when she was refered to by her name that I figured out it’s SIg. I blame her ridiculously light hair here. She is blackhaired so why color it so light and hair shade is important especially here with so many female characters (same faces) with similar hairstyles.

We also get ou local childish variant of Victoria it seems to go with our two Chantezes. When she appears during the “event” during next couple of chapters/volume I think she will be a magnificent ham.

And finally Chris Chris Chris. Giving him a phone to take a picture as if he is not able to do it on his own. Refering to him as a bunny. Have some respect for yourself and others will respect you. Look at Rising/Raging Hearth, she is an out of control juggernaut of destruction only barely controlled by Nanoha’s morals, and we respect her for who she is. You on the other hand are trying so hard to be what Vivio thinks she needs that you are forgetting what you are. You are a god damned Intelligent device, act with the dignity of your position.

I have gotten sufficiently disoriented by the sheer number of characters that I thought Sieg had come along with the rest and was just being shy in the background.

  3. It was a map after all, I thought it was.

The girls were impressed by those training techniques.

So this place they are going to is a training ground and they have to reach a certain area to complete it.

Sounds like a lot of fun.

Looks like Sieg wants to get in on the action also.

Looks like this Irene girl want in on the action also.

The way she was speaking at the end suggests she might be a rival of sorts to Rio.

Yes, walk right into the unfamiliar dark caverns. Nothing could POSSIBLY go wrong from that, after all. ^_^ Yay for new arc. (reads 66-70 all at once) Hoping to see more soon! ^_^
