Two ViVid releases on the same day was bound to happen sooner or later. And we’ve got pretty significant entries today. One of them light and fluffy with the other hitting some quite polar opposite notes.
Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha ViVid 66

In this chapter, the crew finally meets Yumina. We’ve seen her on ViVid Strike! and it’s only due to lagging behind in the manga is it that we didn’t know about her yet. But today we’re beginning to really stitch these two stories together. Yumina is quite the talented young lady. So I do hope you enjoy getting to know her.

And this here is the infamous episode of ViVid Strike! you’ve all been hearing about. The one where we follow Rinne and see just what it was that turned her into the hardened and and cold person she is today. It’s not a pretty sight and things get quite intense.
Viewer discretion is advised. No joke.

Oh, nice, thanks!

WooHoo Thank you~

After watching that episode though, Rinne needs some serious befriending. Hopefully our new heroine can get stronger enough for them to have a proper conversation in the ring.

Yumina debuted a few chapters ago, not in this one.
And man, felt like I was typesetting a hentai doujinshi for a minute there.

Rinne needs a serious befriending…. preferably from Sieglinde “why don’t you smile” Jeremiah.

P.s: Talk about Mood Whiplash reading Vivid chapter 66 and watching Vivid Strike Episode 4 back to back. If only the girls in that wonderful panel in chapter 66 where they are happily eating lunch while Nanoha, Fate and Hayate gaze upon them from within the school knew what was to come. If only they knew that in the next year; they’ll be caught up in the deeply troubled waters of the fractured friendship between a new hot-headed friend, and an unstable, broken girl with cold eyes….

Yeah, but this is when she’s properly introduced to the whole group. And when we get to see what her “special talent” is. 😛

I think it’s pretty good, personally. Life in Vivid has been much too idealized and a little too perfect so Strike showing that there is a dark side to everything is welcome.

Another Vivid chapter, thank you! Though… geeze, Yumina. Doing that with a girl you’ve just met? Show some restraint. 😉
Vivid Strike is… well… brutal. If anyone hasn’t watched it yet, PrimeSonic really isn’t joking with the viewer discretion advisory.

Rinne needs more fighting like a dying man needs a bullet to the head. She seriously needs therapy.

Hell this was like one if not most violent scenes in Nanoha. Only rivaled by Vita getting impaled I think. We could hear their skulls/bones crunch.

Don’t forget the way Precia treated Fate.
We didn’t see most of it but, if anything, that made it worse.

I meant graphically. The way Prescia treated Fate was WRONG and HORRIBLE but she still wanted her alove and kicking so she could do her bidding, and most of it happened offscreen with us only seeing the results. If we include such off screen stuff, Nanoha’s moment of failure in the past counts and all that happened to Ginga and Vivio in Strikers are also HORRIBLE. One was basically taken apart, and the other was strapped into the pain machine and brainwashed. Which BTW is the reason that Subaru, Ginga and Vivio being all buddy buddy with numbers in Vivid never sat well with me.
The difference here is that we here see what happens when someone strong boosted with magic (meaning she is as strong as a Terran body builder) tries to take apart some muggles, who have NO defenses (shields, barriers or jackets), with no restraint. And the results are horrifying.

Watched Episode 4 and I have this contemplated feeling toward Rinne. While I somehow disagree with her excessive use of violence eeer “befriending” here, her circumstance has made her that way. The main underlying problem is not just bullying and throwing her Device, Scrudea to the toilet bowl, but the fact that these bullies have made her failed to see her beloved grandpa in final moment has made her snap.
If the same thing were happen to me, I might done the execute the exact same brutal revenge that Rinne did. She blamed herself from not strong enough has remind me to the mindset of Einhart in the past, as having uncontested strength would allow you to right the wrong while protecting what he or she cherished the most.
Perhaps the only thing Rinne went wrong is the path that she chooses to walk upon in her quest on becoming stronger. After knowing her circumstance, I do hope Fuuka would be able to save her and becoming a soild testament that Einhart always wished for “The true strength of Kaiser Arts that protect those that the wielder love and cherishes dearly”.
I am eagerly wait to see the next episode…

If I remember correctly, those three bullies are also part of the club that practicing martial arts, presumably strike arts. So, they were far from your ordinary muggles. They have deserve it as Rinne is far way stronger than them combined and only being modest and nice until you drove her to the edge. I honestly perhaps happen to be the one that feel sympathetic toward Rinne and could somehow excuse her cold and wish to be stronger above than anyone else after all.
She reminds me a lot of EInhart with the only differences that she has no Vivio, no Nove, no nice friends to support her. Her parents might love her but didnt actually know her plight. Her grandpa has gone and she can’t even properly say good by to him. Her best friend and presumably girlfriend Fuuka arrived too late to comfort her.
Even if what she did has been brutal and inexcusable, I find those bullies deserve it. If they ended up permanently disabled because of those injuries that Rinne has inflicted upon, I hope they are always remember that whoever punch first need to be ready to be punched back or whoever pulled the trigger first need to be prepared to be shot back.
My one and only hope is someone would localize this BD, as I heard the BD come with a neat two OVA episodes.

Its always been this shows style to save lost souls through the use of superior fire power though 😉

Yes but in those cases the issue was not that the person is fighting but that they are fighting for wrong reason.
In this case there is a rel chance that if Fuka again proves she is stronger Rinne would loose it completely. And if she breaks Fuka it would probably break Rinne internaly.
